Wednesday Rapid Fire Update!

Today, we start a new tradition

One thing I love about AE, is we are always doing new and interesting things. One thing I hate about AE is there are so many new crazy things going on they are impossible to keep track of! Mondays are planning days. Fridays are release days. So it makes a lot of sense on Wednesday, to walk around the lab then release a mega jumbo sized bullet list of everything I see people working on.

AQWorlds Event

  • EpicDuel Team on track to release "FULL" Omega Launch at the end of the Month
  • Bug Tracker is a HUGE success! Literally 1000s of bug fixes in progress.
  • OverSoul servers are back up and the servers have been improved. Players love the new dungeon "Labrynth". Friends lists and lower priced SoulGem packages ($5 and $9.95) coming ASAP.
  • HeroMart.com just restocked 2013 Calendars! They also have a few more AQWorlds Card Games & Booster Packs available.
  • MechQuest's "Finale" begins this Friday. It will be about 5 parts long.
  • AdventureQuest 3D Programming team has basic combat, shops, inventory and character equip working.
  • AdventureQuest 3D Art/Animation team 90% done with the new Male/Female Models
  • Doom Cauldon (Mobile test project) is being worked on during nights and weekends. If this works, making a AdventureQuest classic type game will be doable and awesome!
  • Artix Entertainment & Ebilcorp Mug (Prototypes) arrived - they looked terrible. We sent them back.
  • Nythera's Player Support team is building a new "one stop" player support center which will make it easier than ever to recover, fix problems, or fix whatever is wrong with your AE game accounts. This will probably launch around Spring Break.
  • We several unexpected (and completely unplanned) staff-run AdventureQuest Worlds events! If you like this sort of thing please do let us know! In addition to this week's release "The DarkBlood of Falguard" the team is also working on a complete redesign of the starting town, Battleon and the surrounding areas. Rumors include a museum, weapon shop, library, TONS of new quests and more. This will probably be released in pieces over the next several months.
  • You have just over a week left to get into AQWorlds 1st "Shut up and take my rares!" contest. 

 

Wednesday Rapid Fire Update Question: What should our first real mobile game project be? Is building a casual AdventureQuest style game with our new art, pvp, and chat the way to go? Should we try turning DragonFable & MechQuest into mobile games? Should we make a new version of Moglin Punter? (You know... that game we made WAY BEFORE Angry Birds!)

ChrisX: Personally, I think after you guys are more familiarized and more comfortable with making mobile games for IOS,ect,ect, you should do a kind of remake for either AQ,DF, and MQ, with different plot/ect. A game company that has a great single player game similar to AQ DF and MQ(don't worry, it's no rip off of your games) started off on flash games on the browser, like you guys. But they remade the game into the IOS, Android, but basically changed the plot a bit, but considers both versions two different games. I think playing hot AE game remakes on the portables would be an excellent thing to do!

The Extraordinary Mr. E: I think AE should do a stand-alone mobile game with a unique story. Maybe not unique in the setting, characters, etc..., but contained in itself story-wise. Maybe a cross between AQ and DF in terms of gameplay.

Artix: New stories, reusing a lot of existing artwork and places... that could totally work. An upgradd version of DF's PvP system would really hit the spot.

The Extraordinary Mr. E: I think that -especially for a moderately large scale first mobile game- whatever you decide to do should be self contained within itself story-wise. Take the best of both worlds from AQ (deep RPG elements) and DF (general gameplay, PvP) with maybe a new artstyle (while using some existing artwork, especially locations) would be a good bet.

The Extraordinary Mr. E: Having been relatively recently introduced to touchscreen tablets (Android/ Nexus 7), I'm really interested in what [you] could create for the platform. I tried to play AE games on it, but Flash isn't supported (Adobe AIR is). I feel that a lot of AE's games could work really well with mobile/ touchscreen/ tablets, especially the turn-based RPGs (AQ, DF, etc...) | Whatever you decide to do, I honestly think it should be self-contained story-wise. Have a set story quest line (maybe a few branching depending on decisions for replay-ability) with some "end-game" content and side-content. | The first game that comes to mind when thinking about touchscreen/ mobile functionality is BladeHaven. That game is perfect for stuff like that.

Eonaleth: I think it's viable to make all the games mobile even though I wouldn't be able to play any of them because I don't have a smart phone and yeah it would be nice to have an update to all the Ebilgame games. Part is me wishes you would just take it easy but it would be cool to do these projects overtime, not all at once at a blistering place. Take care Artix.

Eonaleth: Probably for my birthday or after I get my refund. I'm really nervous about getting portal devices again because my family already thinks I'm online too much. They never did approve of me taking web design and multimedia classes but I'm not going to let that stop me, yay Battle On! XD

Taini: All the little surprise releases this week have been quite fun. I do hope to see more of them. As far as the mobile game goes, I'm already excited. My iPod is ready. Maybe we could even get a mobile, more updated version of the moglin punter game? When I first found it I spent a good few hours playing it. Having it on my iPod would definately get me back into it. :D

LVXYZx: A BladeHaven 2 on Android/iOS would be amazing. Seriously, BladeHaven SCREAMS for touch screen controls if you think about it. Also, a standalone mobile MMOPvP game would be great for on the go. (simpler than EpicDuel). Lastly, I seriously think you should mobilize the BATTLEON CARD GAME. Seriously, I recommend making a mobile MMOTCG based on the CCG that I and many others loved! With your uniqueness, AE, you could easily do things on mobile to top Temple Run or Angry Birds, because you guys have LONG ALREADY revolutionized online gaming in my opinion!

Caanvost: For the mobile, you should definitely re-release moglin punter and the other mini games at ebilgames.com on the mobile platform. I also would love to see an expansion or side story of bladehaven, since most mobile devices have touchscreens nowadays and I think that would work great with bladehaven's combat system.

LordOfLag: You REALlY need to make a new moglin punter. When I saw angry birds the first time, I thought "That is pretty much like Moglin Punter". also, on a completely different note, you should update the AQ Worlds map, every time I want to go there, I cant just use the map.

_fx_: how about either ways to play the original games like aq, df, mq, aqw and os on mobile platforms (i personally like aqw and os most) or alternative ways to earn xp or coins in them, like minigames that you can play with your character that gives those points in the real games.

reallysillydude: Um... do you think that maybe you could make a moglin punter 2 where you can change the person kicking the moglin by logging into your AQW/DF/AQ Account, and maybe kick other moglins like Quibble and/or Zorbak? I would love to kick Zorbak.

Tonemaro: Your first mobile project should definitely be Bladehaven 2: the Hunt for Valoth. Think about it. Touchscreens would go so well with Bladehaven that I suspect they were made specifically for the game's controls. Not to mention, the game ends with something of a cliffhanger. You go to all of that trouble to track down Valoth (technically you are tracking the princess, but she's with Valoth when you find her), then you run back to save the king and the nefarious villain makes his escape. I look at the map and wonder when all of the other areas are going to come out; a sequel about hunting down Valoth would round out the story and could use those maps for new and unique gameplay.

Colossus: Great post, it's a pretty cool to have a consolidated list that we can sieve out the stuff we wanna keep track of from. Your first real mobile game project? I think that we should let the creative minds of AE to decide the style of the game. :P However, I would love if the game allowed us to redeem bonus items and/or offers in your main PC games. Oh, and please optimize them for tablets. I believe that based on your current manpower and time constraints, Moglin Punter 2 would be a feasible project and would definitely be just the kind of fun for a light-hearted mobile device game. But, I hope that you guys find a way to differentiate yourself from the rest of the market. *Looks meaningfully at Angry Birds* PS: I totally agree with Tonemaro. I never thought of that. However, no offense but if you went down that road, you would be trumped by Infinity Blade easily. Still, not saying that you can't do it but it'll take a real champion of a game to come close to Infinity Blade. PPS: I was just forced to change my display name again!?!? Now I'm once again Colossus. I used the Bug Hunter to report the previous time and the circumstances are exactly the same this time.

Tonemaro: With the whole screen name thing, I find that refreshing, going to different pages and returning, or logging out and logging back in can make it go away. I've been told to update my name twice, but both times by using these methods I got away with not doing so.
